60 Days of Disneyween: Day 16 - Sing Along: The Headless Horseman

This awesome song from the animated film The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, is sung by non other then Bing Crosby and was released on October 5 1949. Head over to Manifesting the Magics YouTube Page or just watch the Video below and enjoy.

Gather 'round and I'll elucidate
What goes on outside when it gets late
Along about midnight the ghosts and banshees
They get together for their nightly jamboree
There's things with horns and saucer eyes
Some with fangs about this size
Some are fat and some are thin
And some don't even wear their skin
I'm telling you, brother, it's a frightful sight
To see what goes on Halloween night

When the spooks have a midnight jamboree
They break it up with fiendish glee
The ghosts are bad but the one that's cursed
Is the headless horseman; he's the worst
That's right, he's a fright on Halloween night

When he goes a joggin' 'cross the land
Holding his noggin in his hand
Demons take one look and groan
And they hit the road to parts unknown
Beware, take care he rides alone

And there's no spook like a spook that's spurned
They don't like him and he's really burned
He swears to the longest day he's dead
He'll show them that he can get a head

They say he's tired of his flaming top
He's got a yen to make a swap
So he rides one night each year
To find a head in the hollow here

He likes 'em little
He likes 'em big
Parted in the middle or a wig
Black or white or even red
The headless horseman needs a head

With a hip, hip and a clippity clop
He's out looking for a top to chop
So don't stop to figure out a plan
You can't reason with a headless man

Now if you doubt this tale is so
I met that spook just a year ago
Now I didn't stop for a second look
But made for the bridge that spans the brook
For once you've crossed that bridge, my friend
The ghost is through
His power ends

So when you're ridin' home tonight
Make for the bridge with all your might
He'll be down in the hollow there
He needs your head
Look out! Beware!

With a hip, hip and a clippity clop
He's out looking for a head to swap
So don't try to figure out a plan
You can't reason with a headless man

Sing Along: Carousel of Progress

Today we have a double dose. both themes from the Carousel of Progress. Great big Beautiful Tomorrow   (the original and current theme) and Best Time of Your Life (the theme from 74 till 94). Best Time of Your Life was added to the attraction on a Request by General Electric. The Sherman Brothers were not to thrilled about it but I'll save that story for another post. Below the lyrics is a link to the Manifesting the Magic YouTube page where I have posted the famous video of the Sherman's and Walt singing Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow.

Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow

There's a great big beautiful tomorrow
Shining at the end of everyday
There's a great big beautiful tomorrow
And tomorrow's just a dream away

Man has a dream and that's the start
He follows his dream with mind and heart
And when it becomes a reality
It's a dream come true for you and me

So there's a great big beautiful tomorrow
Shining at the end of everyday
There's a great big beautiful tomorrow
Just a dream away

Best Time of Your Life

Now is the time.
Now is the best time.
Now is the best time of your life.

Life is a prize, live every minute.
Open your eyes and watch how you win it.
Yesterday's memories may sparkle and gleam,
tomorrow is still but a dream.
Right here and now,
you've got it made.
The world's forward marching and you're in the parade!

Now is the time.
Now is the best time.
Be it a time of joy or strife.
There's so much to cheer for, be glad you're here.
For it's the best time of your life.

Sing Along: The Ballad of Thunder Mountain

Time for a Disney Sing Along. Today we visit Frontierland and Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. You won't hear the ballad on the attraction or in the queue but it does a great job of filling us in on the back story of this haunted mountain. Below are the lyrics but if you want to hear the song click the link at the bottom to visit the Manifesting the Magic YouTube page. So with out further ado the Ballad of Thunder Mountain.

THE BALLED OF THUNDER MOUNTAIN
At Big Thunder Mountain station there’s a frightened, trembling man,
His body’s weak and feeble, and his skin has lost its tan.
When I asked him for a ticket he turned and shook his head.
He grabbed me by the shoulder, and this is what he said:

“Before you get on-board this train there’s something you should know.
When I finish with this tale, you might not want to go.”
I listened with amazement at what he said was true,
And now my friend the time has come to tell this tale to you.

Hear the legend of Thunder Mountain,
If you’re weak of heart then stay away
From Big Thunder Mountain Railroad,
Thunder Mountain Railroad, run away.

He said “As legend has it on one foggy night in June,
The train and crew pulled out at twelve beneath a darkened moon.
The boiler full of water, and the tender full of coal.
The whistle screamed a warning as the wheels began to roll.

Then like a bucking bronco with a cougar on its back,
The train began to run away down miles and miles of track.
What happened to the crew that night no one has ever learned.
The train pulled in all by itself, the men did not return.”

Hear the legend of Thunder Mountain,
If you’re weak of heart then stay away
From Big Thunder Mountain Railroad,
Thunder Mountain Railroad, run away.

The history of Big Thunder continues to unfold.
The stories of its danger continue to be told.
With avalanches, rattlesnakes and earthquakes in the night,
And voices of that phantom crew that chill your blood with fright.

“So please forgive me, Mister, if I’m standing in your way.
But before you buy your ticket, there’s one thing I have to say:”

Hear the legend of Thunder Mountain,
If you’re weak of heart then stay away
From Big Thunder Mountain Railroad,
Thunder Mountain Railroad, run away.
